What is the Repetitive Nature of Cybersecurity Attacks on Businesses?

Ā  Ā  Today I want to talk to you about the repetitive nature of cybersecurity attacks on businesses. I’m talking about the same business getting hit over and over and over again and why that is. Stay tuned.

Ā  Ā  I want to talk to you about successful cyber attacks in 2022. CyberEdge, which is a major cybersecurity firm, did a big study of over 1200 companies across the globe. Of those 1200 companies, 85% of them had one successful attack over 2022. The alarming thing is that 40.5% of them had over six successful attacks.

Ā  Ā  So what does that mean? Well, I tell you in layman’s terms. What it means is the bad guys are good. When they set their sites on you, they can usually hit pay dirt. They’re going to be successful at some point and some level.

Ā  Ā  The gist of all of it is, if you don’t want any trouble, don’t let any happen. Because it’s just like when you were in high school and you found a girl that would kiss on the first date or whatever. You heard about a girl that would kiss on the first date, all the boys went after. These cyber criminals are primarily broken up into some pretty major groups. Probably twelve or 13 of them. They share software, they also share information, and they share data on the companies that they have been successful with.

Ā  Ā  So let’s just do a little scenario. Let’s say they hit your company and receive a ransomware payout. Say you got cyber liability insurance, they hit the jackpot and make 150 grand off of you. Well, they know one thing. They know that the goal is for them to get paid and that you pay. So they’re going to tell all their friends, just like the boys did in high school, about this particular girl that kissed on the first day.

Ā  Ā  Those bad actors are going to come after you because they know that they can get what they’re looking for. And that’s your money, your data. So it’s really important to understand that. So that if you have been hit, you need to take some good countermeasures to offset that risk. And if you haven’t been hit do the same thing. Take these proper countermeasures so that you don’t get hit and you don’t get put on that list.
